The Brotherhood of FreeMasonry

Interested in joining Palmwood Lodge No 303? Look around, you might spot Masons with symbols like the "Square and Compass" on bumper stickers, medallions, rings, or tie tacks. Ask them about "The Craft."

The origins of Freemasonry are uncertain, likely stemming from medieval stonemason guilds, evident in its language and symbols. In 1717, the first Grand Lodge of England formed. George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and others were prominent American Masons, shaping the nation's foundations. Freemasonry, worldwide, promotes personal growth, philanthropy, and Enlightenment ideals. Masonic philanthropy includes funding children's hospitals, medical research, and community service, exemplifying the fraternity's enduring commitment to a better future.

What is a Blue Lodge?

This introduction offers a glimpse into Freemasonry and its core component, the Blue Lodge, where a Mason's journey begins with the Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft, and Master Masons Degrees, often referred to as the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Degrees. These degrees involve profound rituals and symbolism aimed at elevating one's ideals.

Freemasonry is an exclusive society, open only to those who share its belief in the Brotherhood of man and the Supreme Architect of the Universe. Its principles are Brotherhood, Relief, and Truth, promoting equality, aiding others regardless of membership, and upholding honesty, even when it's challenging.

Masonic Blue Lodges, located in various towns and cities worldwide, are where Freemasons gather. You can spot them by the Square and Compass emblem displayed on the building. Each state has its Grand Lodge overseeing local Blue Lodges. Joining involves meeting a Brother from the Lodge you're interested in, who guides you through the membership process, requiring recommendations from two Brothers and a positive report from the Lodge's Investigation Committee.
